Meet Elizabeth Alice “Ali” MacGraw, born April 1, 1939, an American actress, model, author, and animal rights activist. She first blew up with her role in Goodbye, Columbus in 1969, snagging the Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer.
She hit the big time with Love Story in 1970, earning an Oscar nod for Best Actress and bagging the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama. By 1972, she was the top female box office draw and got her hands and feet cemented at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre after just three flicks. She starred in the crime flick The Getaway (1972), tying the knot with co-star Steve McQueen, and later popped up in the action movie Convoy (1978) and the 1983 miniseries The Winds of War. In 1991, she dropped her autobiography, Moving Pictures.
